Those of us selling luxury furniture online have extra challenges than those companies who have brick-and-mortar showrooms. We at Hand & Grain don’t take it for granted that our customers opt in to undertake a significant act: buying an expensive piece of furniture online, sight unseen, that is not easy to repack and return. I admit it: even I would want to sit on a luxury sofa before I buy it.
This leads me to the question, “How do we convince visitors to trust us and to understand the value of our product-line without actually seeing it, touching it, and sitting on it?” Here are a few of the extra efforts we have undertaken that we believe will give you a feel for our benchmade furniture.
Since we don’t have a physical presence in showrooms and retail stores, we have put a tremendous amount of effort into showcasing our collections online with high resolution images and multiple perspectives.
All of our leather and fabric options have been photographed in high resolution so that you can zoom in to appreciate the small details and features. Once a color has been identified that will suit your interiors, we have a very generous swatch sample program that allows you to request leather or fabric swatches to be mailed directly to you. If you select a leather, we will send you a cutting for approval, which ensures that your piece of furniture will be upholstered in the exact hide you approved.
Because we know that cushion fill can make or break a sofa, we will send you a cushion sample so that you can feel the quality of the materials we use to create our seating, which gains so much approval from our satisfied customers. Recently, a couple attended a holiday party at the home of one of our team. They both looked perplexed when they sat on one of our sofas. When asked why, the wife said they had just bought a sofa from a competitor and wished they had tried ours before making the purchase, as it was so much more comfortable. Even our storage ottomans, the Lusso shown below, are as cushy as they are handy.
