Our Stetson leather collection is 100% top grain cowhide leather, an Italian kiss-buffed leather with a unique crackled surface finish. The waxes and oils that are used to finish the surface of each hide give it a rugged and distressed appearance that will only improve as each hide ages. It will show signs of use, and you should expect natural shading and imperfections that make each hide one-of-a-kind.
Remove dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Microfiber wipes should not be used as they degrease the surface. Minor staining can be cleaned with a mild soap and water solution. Apply the solution to a clean wet sponge and wash, then rinse well. This should never be done heavily or in a scrubbing motion. Let air dry naturally. Never use harsh cleaners or solvents, as they could abrade the finish or topcoat of the leather.
In case of spills blot excess liquid immediately with a clean absorbent cloth or sponge. If necessary, use clear, lukewarm water and gently wipe spill. Dry with a clean towel and allow to air dry. If water is used, clean the entire area where the spill occurred.
For butter, oil or grease, wipe excess butter, oil or grease off the leather with a clean, dry cloth, and then leave it alone as the spot should dissipate into the leather in a short period of time. Do not apply water to clean these spots.
Do not use hair dryers, any saddle soaps, oils, abrasives, cleaners, furniture polish, varnish or ammonia water. The leather has already been permanently preserved in the tanning process and does not need maintenance other than the simple cleaning recommended.
