We at Hand & Grain believe that laughter is one of the hallmarks of a healthy life so we make it a point to add some humor to our daily routines. But it’s not just our kidding around that keeps us in stitches; it’s many of our products that feel the touch of a needle at some point in their evolution as well. Our skilled upholsterers are talented artisans who use their hands and time-tested machines to create the seams that bring our bespoke products their sumptuousness.

Achieving beautiful stitching is a painstaking process that demands serious focus, an attentiveness each of our upholstery artisans maintain as they sew pieces of fabric and swaths of leather that morph into the aspect of our furniture that gives it so much of its style. But that’s really just the beginning of the skills that make our team so great. One look at the different varieties of whipstitching they achieve and you can tell they have what it takes to add a little something extra to a piece.  

This aspect of our production proves how much we believe in slow design, which advocates for the hand-made and sustainable over the machine-made and mass-produced, a deep commitment we’ve made to produce furniture with an emphasis on made-to-measure. So, whether it’s top-grain leather we’re sewing or our fine Italian fabrics, our aim with each upholstered piece is to create a thing of singular beauty.
