One of the aspects of our concierge service that we believe sets us apart at Hand & Gain is our complimentary swatch program. While some manufacturers can be on the stingy side of sending out fabric and leather samples (we get it; it’s expensive), we see the offering as an important opportunity. How else will our customers be able to see colors in natural light and to run their hands across the surface of the material? (We have Hand in our company name for a reason!)
Why do we feel this is a crucial service? Because you are making a significant investment when you purchase a piece of our furniture, so we want to make it as easy as possible for your choice to be as perfect as it can be for the room in which it will live. The financial resources we invest to make sure we have the fabrics and leathers to produce the swatches, and the many hours we put into cutting them uniformly and tagging them with the pertinent information each customer will need are extensions of our commitment to the offering the utmost in service.
We know that once you feel our full-grain and top-grain leathers and the fabrics we source from Italy, you’ll see what sets us apart. These are sensory details you simply can’t experience digitally. Nailing the exact color when a piece of our furniture needs to fit seamlessly into the design scheme of a room is also a challenge when images are shown digitally. We understand that you want to be sure when you think you are seeing green, you are actually seeing the tone of the color correctly.
Until they make a computer screen you can reach through so that you can feel a sumptuous piece of fabric or a supple hide, or one which shows the hue of a color as it is in natural light, we will keep cutting squares and sending them to our valued customers who buy our bench-made furniture. That’s why we say, “When in doubt, we suggest you swatch it” (though not in that scary tone your mom used when you were in trouble)!
