Though we are remarkably comfortable working with the savviest design professionals, there is something particularly satisfying about taking you, our non-industry clients, on a customer journey. We love walking you through the abundant choices we offer so that you can make each piece of furniture you order unique to you. The array of options for our upholstered pieces and our casegoods sets us apart: for seating, the choices will include size, of course; whether fabric or leather in any number of colors work best; and whether wood or metal legs, in an array of finishes, will round out the composition perfectly.
Where Choices for Bespoke Furniture Begin
We know that the initial attraction to one of our pieces has to do with aesthetics and that many of you have likely determined your favorite collection before you reach out to us based upon your sense of style, be it contemporary as our Pia Collection above or traditional as is our Cuomo Collection below. If you are on the fence about this early on, we urge you to contact our customer care team because they are pro’s at leading a buyer through the process of ordering. They know our collections so well, there just might be that one tip mentioned in conversation that makes your decision easier. One of the most critical being dimensions.
Once a style or a range of styles are identified as being a good fit aesthetically, we make it a point to go over the dimensions for each to assure the pieces would fit in the spot in which you are eager to place them, an extremely important consideration. “If style and fit give us a green light and there is a firm decision as to which collection comes out on top, we go on to the next step,” says Karina Velázquez, the leader of our customer care team. “Next, we look at whether fabric or leather upholstery, wood or metal legs, or a light or dark woodgrain would best suit a customer’s lifestyle.”
Performance is also a consideration our team will address with you: are young children in the mix, for instance; or do you have pets? If either is the case, you will want one of our highest-performing materials. But if you are a single professional who likes a luxe look, we will point out the beautiful Italian fabrics that would make a sumptuous style statement in the most elegant interior. Because tone and hue are so important when furnishings are being introduced into a room that has an identified color scheme, this is the point when we send swatches your way, which allows you to see the colors in natural light and feel the texture or smoothness of the material to make sure your choice is spot-on.
“We spend a great deal of time learning about the characteristics of each fabric and leather so that we can present to our customers their best options given their needs,” Karina notes. “Knowing how busy everyone is, we take great pride in the fact that we can do this quickly because we know our products inside and out before a call comes through.” Whether your preferences led you toward a lighter finish on a coffee table than we show on the website, a hand-rubbed treatment on a leather or a special tailored detailing on a chair, the samples and swatches will bring you a level of confidence that you’ve chosen well or they will act as early alerts that an adjustment needs to be made.
Last but not least, our list of options brings us to those finishing touches that give each piece added personality, details that may include a whipstitch accent in any number of color combinations to beautifully accentuate the piece of furniture you’ve ordered. If you choose a whipstitch detail, we include this on the swatches we send you because it is as important for you to see this decorative treatment in person as it is for you to feel the suppleness of the leather or the luxuriousness of the fabric. “We like to be very specific when it comes to every order,” Karina explains. “This is because we want the customer to be comfortable with their leather or fabric that will cover their chaise, sectional, sofa or chair before we start cutting it, or the finish choice on a table or a credenza before we apply the stain to the wood.”
After we have completed the process of confirming the finishes and ornamentation through swatches and samples on all of our furniture, we finalize the production timeframe. Though we don’t make it until you order it, which allows us the high level of customization we achieve, we are known to keep time-in-the-factory to a minimum compared to our competitors, even when we are building a piece of furniture unique to you. We can achieve this because we have had so many decades of experience, and we can’t stress enough that buying bespoke doesn’t have to be a stressful undertaking because our expertise is behind every decision you make.
